A event or issue that can be solve at your local level.

Dog parks throughout the community could really bring the people of Benson and also Cochise County together. Imagine a nice bright day, a little wind going to make it nice and cool, all for your dogs to waste it away because they have nowhere else to go. With adding a dog park to Benson it gives a chance for your fury little friend to get out the house and into the sun for the much needed exercise they deserve. By allowing them to have their own park it could help socialize your best friend so they are not being bored inside your house all day. This park will also get owners out of the house as well, with having the owners come out of the house more often to spend a little time outside running around with their dog catching some sun light is not too bad for their health also.

With our community creating a dog park in the city so for example at Apache park near the school, the great big green lot could be useful instead of it just sitting there where no one goes anyway except to watch the parade on the 4th of July. The whole park doesn’t need to become the dog park just a piece of land will do fine nothing to big and nothing to small. This could also help the local businesses out too. As the people of Benson know there is a lot of snow birds that come down for the winter and I’m willing to bet that they all have dogs or people traveling in general will have dogs. With a little advertising around the highway also around town it could possibly bring in more out of town people which means more business and money flowing into our local shop owners.

  1. I like the idea of a dog park. With the tourists that come to stay for the season having a pace they can take their pets would be nice. The biggest issue would be ensuring people cleaned up after their pets, however that is an issue already. The cost of setting it up would not be that large since it would basically be a fence if we use an already existing park. I would think to help with the money flow to local businesses the park would need to be closer to them and they would have to be pet friendly by allowing the dogs into their stores.

  2. The idea of a dog park seems to be a very good way for getting dogs exercise, while people become more sociable among the community. I have not been to a dog park before, my dogs are not in pens they can go and run around as they please. Although dogs that are in pens do need a large fenced off area that they can be turned out in so they can have some fun.
Having a dog park does sound like a good idea to me because it involves the community having to work together to build it. As well as it being for the communities usage. The only thing that I don't really see is a whole lot of business being brought in by the dog park. Seeing how in other towns or cities like Sierra Vista they probably also have a dog park. I do how ever see how it would benefit the dogs and their owner in the social, and exercise aspect.
